It’s so tense because the brilliant writing makes you fall in love with the family
This is what I wanted from Get Out. Get Out had promise, but the various elements at play never coalesced for me. It wasn’t sharp and funny enough for the satire to land, nor was it scary enough for the horror to land. Us, on the other hand, has Peele honing the promise evident in Get Out to maximum effect. It’s probably the best horror/comedy since Shaun of the Dead. Setting aside the social commentary of the film…on a pure visceral level, I haven’t seen a genre film that so effortlessly weaved horror and humor together in a long, long time.
Good that you guys enjoyed this. And Good of you Guru that you wore the “Society” shirt for this vlog.
Have you read Providence (and The Courtyard and Neonomicon, by extension) by Alan Moore and Jacen Burrows? It kind of exemplifies what you said in the video, about someone adapting Lovecraft that actually tackles the inherent racism and classism of his stories.
Hey! You’re back! Been way too long, man.
I thought this was a brilliant horror masterpiece! Also, a brilliant masterpiece of a review!
The twist about Adelaide is not even the real twist of the movie. Jason was swapped for Pluto. Jason dies in the fire at the end. Pluto is the boy at the end. Watch the movie again. The clues are there. The under world is like a parallel dimension underneath.
But the movie explained why the exist.

So glad to hear your thoughts on US only saw it a few days ago and I REALLY want to see it again with your points in mind
First movie I got to smoke at. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
TIDDYSPRINKLED VLOGS!
I had the Jack experience. I called the end twist right off the bat…but the midpoint twist made me go “Wuuuuhhh! Oh shit!”
Well I know what I’m doing this weekend!
I lived this movie but I guessed the twist from the trailer
Definitely a film worth repeat viewings!
the dance/fight sequence is probably one of my favorite from any movie EVER.
the parallels and reversal of who was erratic and who was in control just blew my mind!
Are guys gonna watch the Pet Cemetery remake?
I don’t know who I sympathise with more Adelaide or Red. I understand their actions and motivations. If I was trapped underground of course I’d switch places, if I was taken away from my life and forced underground of course I’d plot a bloody vengeance! Fucking great film and great review Josh and Jack!
you guys need to review love, death and robots I think you will love it
I wonder if Peele was partially inspired by Victor LaValle’s book, The Changeling?
We still have the new movie from the Hereditary director, Midsomnar.
It’s Mah boys!!!
How you doing???
