Alita: Battle Angel | Movie review

This Video is brought to you by: Thrones Amino. Available now in the android and IOS app stores!

James Cameron’s footprint is all over this movie. Is that a good thing though? Did the director shine enough? Was this film deserving of being pushed back out of fear of Aquaman? Alita: Battle Angel is a 2019 American cyberpunk action film based on Yukito Kishiro’s manga series Gunnm, also known as Battle Angel Alita. It was directed by Robert Rodriguez, written by James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis, and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau. Rosa Salazar stars as Alita, a cyborg, with supporting roles portrayed by Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson.

30% of the video being an ad is a bit too much.
I think ad:content ratio should be clsoer to 1:10 but that’s just me.

Big Daddy Gaming says:

my heart was beating FAST ASF I had this serious look on my face; the anxiety I had waiting for him to say this move was LIT, PHEEEW, I read all of the manga and now jody loves this movie yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! we didn’t baby, first anime/manga adaption movie to break the curse!

Carl Winslow says:

Those intro graphics tho.

T-RIZZO says:

Good video brotha man. I just hope that James puts this much effort in Avatar 2, cuz that’s my 4th favorite movie of all time. I just might ask a girl to see alita with me, yaaaaahhhhh.

Don Draper says:

I keep hearing great things about this from the (very few) people I trust when it comes to movie reviews. I was just checking out Junkie Xl’s channel where he walks through how he created the score:
I’m still waiting for a review of Brie Larson’s music video for “She Said”: If the poetry of her lyrics, such as “La Di Da, La Di Di” don’t touch your soul, you must be a Skrull.

Jesus Alvarez says:

I’m really relieved to hear you liked the movie, I notice all the critics are trying to sweep this film under the rug and trash it because they don’t want to see a badass non SJW female lead succeed. I honestly believe the critics trashing this film are being paid or coerced because Captain Marvel is dropping next month and Alita’s success is taking away from Carol Danvers being the “First Female MCU lead film”. The point I’m trying to get at is Alita isn’t an SJW NPC written character and the film isn’t trying to force a hidden agenda on us, which from the marketing and Brie Larson herself Captain Marvel appears to be.

Naseer Ahmed says:

Finally glad that an anime got justice, good review.

Samuel Fisher Jr. says:

Yeah Cameron is a awesome director and working with cgi. But this was directed by Robert Rodriguez. I’m a huge fan. He hasn’t been doing major movies lately but I loved his Sin City. This movie reminded me of Sin City in looks, the hunter killer bar reminded me of The Titty Twister from Dusk til Dawn lol, with all of the unique characters and all. Robert Rodriguez gave us Desperado with Antonio Banderas and Machete also 1 half of the Grind House series with Tarantino plus the kinda forgettable SPY KIDS. This movie ALITA: Battle Angel is what Rodriguez has been working toward. All those other films were practice.

Beau Robinson says:

I didn’t see it at the movies but I watched from the comfort of home and after I watched regret. I should’ve watched it on the big screen,it blows a lot of live action/cgi hybrids out of the water. Some parts of the story aren’t as strong as it could’ve been but with the action and emotion from the characters,I looked past it. Why Ghost In The Shell couldn’t be this epic, only shows why you can’t hide good films from the people.

Kaixy Lor says:

Great review! Saw the movie twice and I really enjoyed the world building and the character of Alita. I want a sequel too and I hope we don’t have to wait another 10 plus years for it.

Terence Jefferson says:

Jody, you hit it on point. I took my wife tonight to see this movie. From start to finish, we both loved this film. CGI, story and her fight scenes are off the chain.

Vely Michel says:

Why are the critics hating on this movie

Q Reviews says:

Yo Jody That was a fire review man! I liked this movie also! The CG was so good on Alita i forgot she was a effect.

Gust_FlowDJ says:

Mike Artis says:

Thanks bro, I was contemplating seeing this movie due to the mixed reviews but now I got the real, I’m def gon check dis out!

This movie shows that anime adaptations to live action is possible if done right hopefully if we can get to a DBZ live action movie I would like to see them use this type of technology for the Android saga

Abel B says:

That A stamp approval. TIGHT! I liked the visual effects they showed even in the trailers. The girl who plays Alita was also in Bird Box, the idiot couple who leave the house. lol Anyway, thanks for the review man. Looking forward to watching this movie!

Mark Sullivan says:

This movie was satisfying. Enjoyed this movie on the big screen. Please do the same future alita viewers.

malcolmz3o1 says:

Jody! Wassup bro! I’m so glad you loved this movie. I loved it too. I couldn’t wait for it to get released since I saw the first trailer last year! It did NOT disappoint. For me, of course the effects were tip top cuz any film cameron puts his name on is gonna be lit! What I enjoyed the most was the heart and soul Rosa Salazar brought to the role (she brought it 100%), and the second thing I loved was Christoph Waltz’s performance and his connection to Alita. I really felt the love between them. Amazing story and movie! AND dude…your camera is looking so effing sick now! omg the video quality!!!!! Sick!

RandomBlackGamer says:

Glad you enjoyed this film man. I’ve been a big fan Alita for a good minute back when anime and manga cost an arm and a leg. And man this is by far the best live action anime adaptation to hit the big screen. They really captured the soul of the source material. I had a few complaints how they underplayed certain characters who had a more integral role in the manga. But I know there’s only so much they can squeeze into a film. And the dialogue although clunky, is kinda excusable because that’s how the anime is. It’s something that would undoubtedly get a perfect score if it came out in the 90’s.

FFC says:

A anime/manga live action film….. THE CURSE HAS BEEN BROKEN!!!

I want to see this movie even more now

RoninjoeChronicles says:

Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron have made creator Yukito Koshiro proud.

shwonsh says:

I loved Aquaman, but if James Cameron wants to talk down to it..thats fine. Cameron is the best. Alita: Battle Angel might actually be better.
