Max Wright says:

Am I reading too much into this?

During the scene where Mildred sees the doe, She mentions that she’d give her Doritos but they would probably kill her.

Cut to the end of the movie and while they are packing the car to go to Idaho to kill the rapist, she puts in a grocery bag which contains a bag of Doritos. Is this symbolic? I could see where a doe symbolizes innocence and by killing the rapist they will be killing their innocence.

Also killing the rapist would go along with the main theme of the movie: finding a scape goat to kill.

Joseph Muir says:

I walked into this movie almost completely blind, and absolutely loved it. Part of me also hoped for more of a resolution of sorts at the end, but the more I thought about it, the more content I was with the ambiguity as they set off for Idaho. I’d say more, but I don’t want to risk spoiling anything for anyone.
