A Star is Born | Spoiler Free Movie Review & Spoiler Discussion!

This film makes me feel some type of way…

A Star Is Born is a 2018 American musical romantic drama film produced and directed by Bradley Cooper, in his directorial debut, and written by Cooper, Eric Roth and Will Fetters. A remake of the 1937 film of the same name, it stars Cooper, Lady Gaga, Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Chappelle, and Sam Elliott, and follows a hard-drinking musician (Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with a young singer (Gaga). It marks the third American remake of the original 1937 film (which starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March), after the 1954 musical (starring Judy Garland and James Mason) and the 1976 rock musical (with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson)

One of the best of the year

Jaleen Tufts says:

I just had to comment because I’ve loved Lady Gaga since day one. A lot of people hated on her because of her style of music but never actually listened to her lyrics. Every song she wrote has substance and a deep meaning, even if it’s a Pop song. She’s already won an Emmy for American Horror Story, let’s see if she can add an Oscar to her belt.

Emotions, that’s our lot in life my fellow cancerian bro. I just saw this movie a couple hours ago. The eerie thing is, earlier today before seeing the film I was talking about suicide with my ex, because I’m lonely as shit now. Saw this film, and it really hit home, scared me a little to be honest. Brilliant film though. Great film review also bro.

AlphaQSilly says:

Twice as good as La La Land? But La La Land was trash and I can’t stand untalented popsluts like Lady Gaga.

Katori Hinton says:

great review, saw the movie today and i cried very good film!

squashedeyeball says:

EPIC review Jody… Didn’t see the film, but well, that makes me lean very much into watching it.
Now, the musical styles in the movie are not my thing of course. Still, a good story is a good story. And Lady Gaga, I’m far from a fan but she is very talented and has wider musical background than most other pop people.
Cheers man! Sounds like a great movie.

Riley says:

Enjoyed your review. I saw the movie twice. Loved it!

Luke MTECH says:

I totally disagree. Bradley Cooper was the best actor in this. Lady Gaga was really good but this was Bradley’s movie.

Billy Bob says:

I actually think that he was planning on committing suicide before he went into the glove compartment. Because the scene right before that he made his dog a big juicy streak and fed it to him. Maybe his way of saying goodbye to the dog and making sure he’s well fed until Ally got back. The pills were just to help him gain the courage to do it?

Sinatrajlam says:

This movie represents everything Jody’s channel is.. THAT REAL! Great movie definitely movie of the year.

Agree. This film was incredible. When Gaga hits the chorus for “Shallow”, I got goosebumps.

mystery nigga biron says:

freak gaga but yeah she can act ill give her that

Romeo St. Martin says:

This review is almost as good as the movie.

Jonathan Segure says:

I knew going in that Gaga would knock it out of the park with her musical performances. How this woman is able to channel some Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand into her performance was mesmerizing.
It’s Cooper who is the musical revelation in the film.He soulfully performs with an on stage swagger as if he’s been singing and performing at stadiums for years.
I have so much admiration for his Direction of this film. The chemistry between the two is off the charts.
Cooper gives the weathered by life performance as a man dealing with personal demon’s and physical ailments while trying to maintain a loving relationship
Their scenes together are electric, powerful and soul stirring.
Gaga is a revelation with her acting giving as much as Cooper can or any other actor in the film
The supporting cast is absolutely outstanding:Andrew Dice Clay,Dave Chappelle,Sam Elliott and Anthony Ramos.

This film will likely receive a ton of award nominations and it’s deserving of all of them
One of the best movies of 2018

Scale of 1-10 a 9

I never heard of this movie, lately I really haven’t been paying attention to any new movies at all, but my focus is on other things. Glad things are going good for you after all that stress

jabezcreed says:

This movie was so fun and so depressing at the same time. But I appreciate your commentary on it. It helped me sort out my conflicted feelings about Jack’s suicide. It’s a sad reality that some people can’t see past the obstacles, but I think you are right in saying he felt that he was the obstacle to Ally’s success. It’s tough to watch and to process, and I think I would only recommend this movie to someone who is capable of processing depictions of substance abuse, depression, and suicide. Quality movie for sure, but such a downer.

Catspaw says:

We know why Robin Williams killed himself he was developing the same disease as Michael J. Fox & Robin couldn’t bear the thought of seeing himself & people watch his health deteriorate. At least that’s what I heard.

Patrick Guider says:

Madari Mr Sparda says:

Ayyy Jody , mate this movie touched so many hearts i just watched some some clips and from what i heard from you and lot of people , this one really showed hoe movie actors had it more harder more tougher than normal folks , Now i understand how some one like the legendary Robin Williams would kill himself despite making so many poeple laugh and happy , RIP Sir William you will live in our heart forever , First time i heard his iconic voice Was when he played Gene in Aladdin , I will miss him , Dom Deluise and Tony Jay , May you all rest in peace , Tight review Jody , And be proud of your human soft side mate
