Starring Rebel Wilson, Adam Devine, Liam Hemsworth, and Priyanka Chopra, Isn’t It Romantic is about a woman who is jaded when it comes to love. After a knock to the head, she wakes up as the leading lady her own magical romantic comedy world. In my new review, I discuss Isn’t It Romantic, a meta rom-com within a rom-com film that pokes fun at the romantic comedy genre.

Neat, Kirsten! I must check out this movie. I adore the concept of a cynical woman being transported into a romantic comedy, complete with lampshade hanging of the ridiculous tropes and cliches found in that genre. Judging from the trailer, it seems to be a mix of “Teen Beach Movie”, “Enchanted” and “Delirious”, a 1991 comedy starring John Candy as a soap opera writer who finds himself inside his own show, and tries to control events from within. I also admire how the leading lady’s size appears to be incidental to the story, and that it isn’t made the butt of all the jokes.
